Matt Mitchell - turquoise hummingbirds

Hummingbird represents joy,  these  30mm turquoise birds have 8mm silver beaks and are carved by Matt Mitchell. 

A Zuni fetish is a carving believed to contain the powers of the animal carving and were central to Zuni culture and their religion prior to the Spanish invasion.  Most always these were animals of prey, as the most powerful providers in life.  Individually carved in semi-precious stones, many are enhanced with medicine bundles, arrows for protection or other adornments to enhance their power.
